I thought this book was sad in the sense that the guy's got very few redeeming features whatsoever. He comes across as totally self-absorbed. It was interesting in terms of revelations but I didn't warm to him. It also irritates me that the ghostwriter matches the way he speaks, as in "I weren't" instead of "I wasn't". I guess that this enhances the reality but why can't footballers speak proper English?!
